Purpose of Secure Containers

Secure Containers maintains information for all safes, vaults or other storage facilities capable of storing classified information.

The purpose of the Secure Containers database is to maintain an inventory of all containers within the facility that are capable of storing classified information. A container could be a safe, a vault, or any approved storage device. In addition, a container could also be a conference room with a cipher lock or any other combination, cipher, or key lock device. Some of the items included in the Secure Containers database are container identifier (ID), maximum classification level of material to be stored, any special accesses required for access to the container, a list of those employees with access, and location in the facility

Note that while viewing the Secure Container's Output Screen, a quick search may be performed to locate all containers that are associated with a particular custodian, by pressing the "Custodian Locator" button, and then entering the first few letters of the custodian's last name or SSN (SIMS automatically distinguishes between these).

Information in the Secure Containers database is used only by the Classified Documents database.
